Sight-seeing Tour

July 25 afternoon / July 29 morning

Pittsburgh is a unique, beautiful, and incredible city, with so many fantastic places to explore and discover!  Besides the commercial tours for Pittsburgh city, which will be available during the conference, the organizing committee is also planning to arrange two special tours to Fallingwater, one is planned on July 25 afternoon and another one planned on July 29 morning.

Fallingwater or the Kaufmann Residence, located 43 miles (69 km) southeast of Pittsburgh, is listed among Smithsonian’s Life List of 28 placesto visit before you die” together with the Louvre for “Triumphs of Vision” (come face to face with history’s finest works of art and design). Why is it so famous?  It’s a house that doesn’t even appear to stand on solid ground, but instead stretches out over a 30 feet waterfall. It captured everyone’s imagination when it was on the cover of Time magazine in 1938. In 1991, members of the American Institute of Architects named the house the “best all-time work of American architecture.” http://www.fallingwater.org/
